Care for Me

Is your child safe?

Did you know that injuries are the leading cause of hospitalization and death for children in Canada? That is more than any kind of sickness! In BC, there are more than 260 children killed each year because of unintentional injuries.

Immunization is a way you can prevent your child from catching diseases. Vaccinations need to be done at certain ages, check out the immunization schedule to see what vaccinations your child should be getting, and when you should get them done.

Children are curious and cannot easily recognize and avoid hazards so they need extra protection and care. Many burns, poisonings, traffic related injuries and falls can be prevented.

By increasing awareness of how and where injuries occur most often, and by supervising your children carefully and making their surroundings safe,  you can prevent injuries.
