Food Box Programs

return to food security

Prince George is host to a number of  food box programs. Box programs buy produce and other goods in bulk and pass on the savings to box buyers, resulting in lower food costs for participants. Check out the list of food box programs here.

Prince George Good Food Box

Time: Third Wednesday of every month (order by first Friday of month)
Location: Various depots around city
Cost: $15.00
Contents: seasonal fruits and vegetables with focus on local and BC products. Organic produce when locally available. Newsletter with recipes, health and food event information.
Mandate: Increase food security by supporting and encouraging local production, increasing public knowledge of local food systems, and encouraging healthier eating habits.

PGPIRG-UNBC Organic Food Box

Time: Every Thursday during school session - September to April (weekly or bi-weekly option)
Location: UNBC
Cost: $20.00
Contents: organic fruits and vegetables (some local produce)
Mandate: bulk organic produce purchasing to make organics more affordable for UNBC campus community
Optional dry good bulk orders and non-produce items available for an extra fee.

P & R Farms Organic Food Box

Time: Every Tuesday (order by Monday evening) Online ordering available.
Location: delivered to home or business during growing season, pick up during winter months.
Cost: $25.00 or $35.00
Contents: fresh certified organic vegetables from P & R Farms and in-season organic fruits

Time: last Thursday of month (order by last Tuesday of month)
Location: pick-up at Pine/Porter House 2105 Pine Street (some delivery upon request)
Cost: $12 or $24 depending on size
Contents: fresh fruits and vegetables and dry goods.
Mandate: making fruits and vegetables more affordable
